The Whistle Stop is presenting its 3rd Annual Billfish Classic at Tropic Star Lodge in Pinas Bay, Panama. This is your chance to share an unbelievable adventure with your son or daughter. . . And the best part of this adventure is that children, 16 and under enjoy all the fishing, food, and fun FREE.
Situated in the remote Darien Jungle, 150 miles south of Panama City, Tropic Star is hailed by the Robb Report as the "best saltwater fishing resort in the world". Mom, Dad and the kids will fish Zane Gray Reef and the surrounding waters for the mightiest fighting game fish in the world, his majesty, the Black Marlin. You will also have Blue and Stripped Marlin, Sailfish and Dolphin fighting for your baits. And, believe it or not, your team will probably have to reel in two or three fish at the same time because billfish are so plentiful.
This is a "Catch & Release" Tournament. It is limited to thirteen (13) teams, each team consisting of a maximum of 4 anglers/coaches/cheerleaders (adults and children). Teams will fish three days on one of Tropic Star's 31' Bertrams. The fourth day of fishing is a non-tournament fishing day. Anglers will be free to fish for their favorite species.
The Tournament will start with the Team Meeting and Draw for Boats on Saturday, July 17. Anglers will fish Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The Awards Banquet will be Tuesday evening when the winning anglers will be announced, certificates presented, and the Challenge Trophy awarded to the Top Boat.
